Tilt Cove - NFLD
The recently acquired Tilt Cove Property lies just north of the coastal community of Tilt Cove, on the eastern side of the Baie Verte Peninsula in Newfoundland. The Baie Verte Peninsula is host to a number of gold and base metal deposits and Tilt Cove represents one of the original copper mines dating back to the 19th century. Historical records indicate the Tilt Cove area had a producing mining operation from 1864 to 1917, and again from 1957 to 1967, producing a total of 8,160,000 tonnes of ore grading 1% to 12% Cu, with minor gold and nickel production.
The MEK Property covers the north end of the Betts Cove Ophiolite Complex, which hosts a number of copper/gold ore deposits including Tilt Cove. Other producers in the area include the Nugget Pond deposit, located 12 km to the south-east of Tilt Cove, which produced over 190,000 ounces of Au during its mine life. The historic Betts Cove Mine, located 15 km to the south- east, reportedly produced 118,500 tonnes of ore grading 10% Cu. All resources quoted are non 43-101 compliant.
Further gold (copper) exploration is warranted in the Tilt Cove area, as historical mining and exploration did not focus on Gold and much of the property was left un-assayed or under-explored. A number of showings and undeveloped deposits remain to be further explored on this property. Included in the MEK claim package are historic resources of 80,000 tonnes at 0.06 oz/t at surface (Mine Dump Zone) and 1,000,000 tonnes grading 1% Cu. (Cliff Zone). (source: Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Mineral Occurrence Data system, File 002E/13/Cu001). Existing resources of copper and gold are reported from the claims however these reports are not compliant with National Instrument 43-101 "Standards for Disclosure of Mineral Projects: have not been verified, and will be the focus of the company's initial evaluation program. Initial work will focus on establishing a 43-101 compliant resource. A number of occurrences in the area will also be confirmed and these include the Mud Pond Showing (22.1g/t Au and 3.4% Cu over 0.77m), and the Scarp Zone (16.4 g/t Au over 1.1m, and 7.1 g/t Au over 1.0m). (source: Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Mineral Occurrence Data system, File 002E/13/Cu001). A program of geological mapping, compilation and sampling is planned prior to advancing a drill program.
